Gurugram Police Successfully Apprehend Three Criminals Involved in Cow Smuggling After Chase
Three individuals were apprehended by the Gurugram police's crime units following a pursuit, as reported on Wednesday. The suspects were caught while transporting cattle for smuggling in a stolen vehicle. During the chase, an exchange of gunfire occurred, resulting in two of the suspects being shot in their legs, according to police statements.

The police recovered a canter, two illegal pistols, one live cartridge, ten empty shell cartridges, a cow, and a calf from the suspects. The incident began when the Farrukhnagar police crime unit received information about youths stealing cattle from Ullawas village in Sector 65. The police pursued the canter near Maidawas village, with the Sohna team joining the operation.
Police Encounter and Arrest
As the police attempted to intercept them, the driver sped away, prompting the suspects to fire at the officers. In response, ten rounds were exchanged between both parties. Two of the suspects sustained leg injuries during the retaliatory firing. They were subsequently apprehended and taken to a hospital for treatment. The third suspect was also captured.
The arrested individuals were identified as Arif (28), Arif alias Mandal (27), and Rashid alias Yusuf alias Kake (33), all hailing from Nuh district. Initial investigations revealed that the canter was stolen from Bilaspur on December 24, while the cow and calf were taken from a dairy in Ullawas village.
Criminal Backgrounds Uncovered
Rashid has a criminal history involving 49 cases, including gang-rape, murder, attempted murder, robbery, and assaulting police officers. Arif faces charges of attempted murder and cow smuggling, while Mandal is accused of cow smuggling. Police spokesperson Sandeep Kumar disclosed that Rashid had previously committed cow smuggling crimes in Gurugram in 2009.
During that incident, when police pursued Rashid and his accomplices, they collided with a police vehicle near Hero Honda Chowk. This resulted in the death of EHC Babulal of Gurugram Police. "Rashid and Arif are undergoing treatment. They will be interrogated by the police after being discharged from the hospital," Kumar stated.
