Three booked for child marriage in Maharashtra
Thane, Jun 1: Three persons including the mother of a minor girl and a priest have been booked for child marriage, police said today.
The offence was registered under sections 9, 10 and 11 of the Prevention of Child Marriages Act last night by the Khadakpada Police under Kalyan division following a complaint by the girl's father Sanjay Sitaram Patil.

According to Sitaram, on May 29, the mother Vandana Patil (40) and the unidentified priest got the 16-year-old girl married to Kailas Adhikari in the presence of their relatives in Khinavali of Sahapur despite knowing that the victim was a minor.
The Khadakpada police registered the offence under "00" category and then forwarded to Khinavali police station for further action.
