Three Men Arrested for Allegedly Assaulting Police Officers During Traffic Disruption in Delhi
Three individuals have been detained for allegedly attacking police officers and damaging their uniforms in southwest Delhi. The incident occurred when the officers confronted them about causing a traffic jam, according to an official statement on Wednesday. The arrested individuals are Manish Nagar, Shashikant Sharma, and Tushar. They, along with two others, including a woman, reportedly assaulted four police officers on duty.

The altercation took place around 7.30 pm on May 23, as detailed in the FIR filed at Safdurjang Enclave police station. An SUV was blocking another vehicle on the main Green Park Market road, leading to a complete traffic standstill. A head constable and a constable patrolling the area noticed the obstruction caused by a group of four men and a woman standing near the SUV.
Police Confrontation and Escalation
Despite repeated requests from the officers to clear the road, the group refused to cooperate. Two additional police personnel arrived to assist in resolving the situation. However, the group allegedly became violent, attacking the officers and tearing their uniforms. As a crowd began to gather, three individuals managed to escape in the SUV.
Manish Nagar was apprehended with assistance from local residents and security guards. Even after being taken to a nearby police booth, he reportedly continued to resist arrest. Eventually, he was transported to Safdurjang Enclave police station. Later, two more members of the group were also arrested, according to a senior police officer.
Medical Reports and Legal Proceedings
Medical examinations of the injured officers confirmed injuries such as abrasions and uniform damage consistent with physical assault. The FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The investigation is ongoing as authorities seek to apprehend all involved parties.
The incident highlights challenges faced by law enforcement in maintaining order during public disturbances. It underscores the importance of cooperation between citizens and police to ensure public safety and smooth traffic flow.
