Jammu and Kashmir Elections: Nadda Highlights Shift from Violence to Democratic Expression

JP Nadda, the BJP national president, highlighted the fearless voting in the initial phases of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. He noted that former gun-wielders are now casting ballots, symbolising a triumph for Indian democracy. Nadda stressed the importance of ensuring BJP's success in every constituency to accelerate development in the region.

Nadda Celebrates Voter Turnout in Kashmir Elections

During a public rally in Kathua district, Nadda pointed out that voter turnout in Srinagar reached 60 percent, a significant rise from previous figures of 8-10 percent. He mentioned that there is no longer an atmosphere of fear or violence, with no incidents of firing or booth capturing. The first two phases recorded a turnout of 58-60 percent.

Development and Security in Jammu and Kashmir

Nadda praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for transforming the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. He stated, "Those who once held guns in their hands are now using ballots to express themselves." He added that Modi has prioritised peace, stability, and development in the region.

The BJP leader criticised the National Conference and Congress for past instances of violence during elections. He credited the BJP government with successfully conducting local elections and providing opportunities for youth representation. Under Modi's leadership, he assured that Jammu and Kashmir would not lag behind in any sector.

Nadda emphasised that while development schemes can be introduced from Delhi, their implementation requires a BJP-led government in Jammu and Kashmir. A double-engine government is necessary to expedite regional development, he asserted.

Political Landscape and Challenges

Nadda accused the National Conference of involvement in various scams, including those related to Roshni, J&K Bank, land purchases, and cricket associations. He promised legal action against those responsible for injustices in Jammu and Kashmir.

He expressed concern over individuals aged 20 to 25 being denied education and instead being turned into stone-pelters. Nadda warned that the National Conference aims to revert to the 1990s situation by releasing terrorists from jail as stated in their manifesto.

The BJP president criticised Congress and its ally National Conference for supporting talks with Pakistan and resuming LOC trade. However, he reiterated PM Modi's stance that dialogue will only occur once terrorism is eradicated.

Economic Growth Under Modi's Leadership

Nadda highlighted significant developments in Jammu, such as hosting a G20 meeting, a car race, and the Khelo India event. Over two crore tourists visited Jammu and Kashmir within a year, fostering peace and harmony.

He remarked on India's economic progress under Modi's leadership, noting that while other major economies face challenges, India's economy is thriving. India has moved from 11th to 5th position globally, surpassing Britain. With success in Jammu and Kashmir elections, India is poised to become the third-largest economy during Modi's third term.

Nadda concluded by urging people to support BJP's vision for development under Modi's leadership. He stressed the need for BJP's victory across all constituencies to ensure continued progress for Jammu and Kashmir.
