Third Low-Intensity Explosion Reported Near Harminder Sahib, Amritsar

Another low-intensity blast has been reported near Harminder Sahib in Punjab's Amritsar. The police have arrested three persons in connection with the incident. This is the third blast since Saturday night.

Police sources say that some pamphlets were recovered from the site of the incident. This was allegedly thrown by the suspect who had confessed to have carrying out all the three blasts.

The incident took place in Galiara (pathway and park around the Harmandir Sahib), which is just behind Guru Ram Dass Inn around 12.30 am on Thursday.

The first blast had taken place eon Heritage street, while the second one was reported just across the road from the first blast spot.

CCTV footage showed that the main suspect had allegedly hurled the bomb from the second floor of the Guru Ram Dass Inn into the Galiara. He had gone to the common washroom of the Inn and hurled the bomb from the window.

The footage also showed him going into the washroom and suddenly coming out. The blast was also recorded at the same time in the other CCTV camera in the Galiara.

The police immediately reached the spot and arrested three suspects including the main one and another staying in the Inn with his wife. The main suspect is from Baba Bakla and the police said that he stayed on at the Inn after he had hurtled the bomb. He also threw some pamphlets in which certain demands were made.

The suspect, during the initial interrogation told the police that he did not belong to any organisation and wanted to make a list of demands before the government. The police have also recovered some drug injections during the probe.
