Third Front will form stable govt: Akhilesh

, April 15: Stating that democracy had matured in the country,

chief minister

on Tuesday claimed that the Third Front would form a "stable government" with the Congress' support after the Lok Sabha elections.

"The BJP will not be able to reach the magic figure and form a government. Congress will emerge the weakest after elections... The parties associated with the Third Front will get the maximum number of seats and will form the next government," Yadav told PTI in an interview.

Asked if the Third Front government would be stable as earlier experiences were not good, Yadav said democracy had matured in India. "Now, neither the alliance will break nor there will be any fissures due to ego... If alliances had given temporary governments, NDA and UPA had also completed their tenures... This time, the Third Front will give a stable government," he said.

On likely support to the Congress, Yadav said, "Samajwadi thinker Ram Manohar (Lohia) used to say that whenever the Congress remains in a weak position, it would support Samajwadis.. And in the present election, the situation appears so.. Due to which, Congress will help in forming a secular government."

Asked about the Third Front in the ongoing elections, Yadav said he saw Odisha chief minister Biju Patnaik and his Bihar counterpart, Nitish Kumar, and other leaders as parties in the Third Front, which will take formal shape after May 16.

Asked who will lead the Third Front, Yadav said it was early to say anything in this regard. "It will depend on the number of seats won by the parties associated with the Front... SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav and other leaders with secular approach will sit and decide on that; we will find a way," Yadav said.
