Maharashtra Minister Confirms Theft as Motive Behind Knife Attack on Saif Ali Khan

Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked with a knife at his Bandra residence. Maharashtra's minister of state for home, Yogesh Kadam, clarified that no underworld gang was involved. "A suspect who has been detained in connection with the attack and released later is not part of any gang. No gang has carried out this attack," Kadam stated in Pune.

Theft Confirmed as Motive in Saif Ali Khan Attack

Khan, 54, sustained serious injuries when an intruder repeatedly stabbed him early Thursday morning. He underwent emergency surgery at Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital and is expected to be discharged in a few days. Doctors confirmed his recovery is progressing well.

Police Investigation and Security Concerns

The police detained a carpenter resembling the intruder for questioning but later released him. A senior officer confirmed that the man had no connection to the attack. "There has been no intimation from Saif Ali Khan to police till date on whether he faced any threat," said the minister.

Kadam mentioned that Khan has not requested security but can do so if he feels threatened. The police will assess any such request through a committee that evaluates the severity of threats before granting protection.

Details of the Incident

CCTV footage captured the suspect fleeing from the building's sixth floor, wearing a red scarf and carrying a backpack. Initial investigations suggest theft as the motive behind the attack. The minister reiterated that no criminal gang involvement has been found.

Despite the severity of the incident, Khan has not indicated any ongoing threats to his safety. The police remain vigilant and ready to provide security if needed, following standard procedures for assessing potential risks.

The situation highlights concerns about celebrity safety and the importance of thorough investigations in such cases. Authorities continue to monitor developments closely to ensure public safety and justice for those affected by crime.
