Theft Investigation at Lucknow Residence of UP Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar's Son
Authorities have detained Ramjeet Singh, a former driver for the family of Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister Om Prakash Rajbhar. This follows an alleged theft at the Lucknow home of the minister's son, Arvind Rajbhar. The incident reportedly involved the theft of nearly Rs 3 lakh from Arvind's residence in Diamond Apartment, located in the Sadar Bazaar area under Hussainganj police jurisdiction.

According to officials, the Hussainganj police registered a First Information Report (FIR) on Tuesday. This was based on a complaint by Sanjay Rajbhar, the current driver for the minister, who is undergoing treatment for mouth cancer at Medanta Hospital in Lucknow. Sanjay claimed that Ramjeet visited him at Diamond Apartment shortly before the alleged theft occurred.
Investigation and Allegations
Sanjay stated that during Ramjeet's visit, he mentioned going to the hospital with his wife. Ramjeet then asked about the house key, to which Sanjay replied that it was with the guard. Sanjay alleged that he had Rs 3 lakh in total, took Rs 25,000 for his hospital visit, and left the rest in a bag in his room. Upon returning, he found Rs 2.75 lakh and his wife's jewellery missing.
Sanjay accused Ramjeet of conspiring with Gorakh Sahani, the cook, to steal the money and jewellery. The FIR was filed under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including Section 305 related to theft in a residential dwelling. An investigation is currently underway, according to Ram Kumar Gupta, Station House Officer (SHO) of Hussainganj.
Detention and Family Reaction
In Ambedkar Nagar, local Tanda police reported that Ramjeet was taken into custody for questioning regarding the alleged theft. Deepak Singh Raghuvanshi, SHO of Tanda Kotwali police station, stated that Ramjeet was on leave at his family home in Tanda for Diwali when police arrived to question him.
Ramjeet's wife, Geeta, expressed her confusion over the police's actions. She said, "The police came looking for Ramjeet and took him, saying it was a matter of money. Later, they returned and searched the entire house." Her comments reflect uncertainty about her husband's involvement in the case.
Statements from Arvind Rajbhar
Arvind Rajbhar released a video statement addressing the incident. He said, "We live in Diamond Apartment and Sanjay Rajbhar has been my driver for a long time. We collected Rs 3 lakh for his cancer treatment." He further claimed that with Gorakh Sahani's help, Ramjeet obtained the apartment key and stole nearly Rs 3 lakh from the bag.
Arvind Rajbhar is also known as the national general secretary of the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (Subhaspa). In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, he contested as an NDA alliance candidate from Ghosi constituency but did not win.
The investigation into this case continues as authorities seek to uncover more details about the alleged theft involving significant amounts of money and jewellery.
