According to close family associates, the marriage between Rohini and Samresh took place because of a deep friendship between Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rao Ranvijay Singh. Singh became a respected officer after clearing the UPSC examination and later served in the Indian Revenue Service.

He worked within the Income Tax Department and was known for his integrity across Bihar's administrative circle. His family belonged to Daungar near Aurangabad and had a strong educational and service background, with his wife being a professor and several relatives serving in government roles.

The match between Rohini and Samresh was fixed in 1999 when Rohini was pursuing her MBBS at MGM Medical College in Jamshedpur. Their wedding took place on May 24, 2002. She completed her medical degree after the marriage but chose not to practice professionally. Born on June 1, 1979 in Patna, she has often described herself as a homemaker despite holding a medical qualification.

Samresh trained as a mechanical engineer before heading to Singapore for an MBA. He later secured an opportunity in the IT sector which led the couple to settle permanently in Singapore. Rohini gained national praise in 2022 after she donated a kidney to her father, a gesture many hailed as an act of deep respect and devotion.
