The importance of nabbing ISIS recruiter Abu Zaid

The arrest of Abu Zaid, an alleged recruiter for the Islamic State is a major breakthrough for security agencies. He was arrested on Sunday on arrival from Riyadh and will now be questioned for his alleged links with the ISIS and also recruitments undertaken in India.

Police sources say that Zaid was an important player. He was recruiting and radicalising Muslims in India. He had formed a social media group through which he would get in touch with the youth and radicalise them.

A resident of Uttar Pradesh, Zaid was involved in the recruitment for the ISIS since the past two years. He had landed in Dubai a couple of years back. He is alleged to got in touch with a few like minded persons out there, following which he decided to recruit for the ISIS.

On the social media groups he would speak with the youth and radicalise them. He would also post sensitive material backing the ISIS and why the youth should join the outfit, police sources also informed. From Dubai he had moved to Saudi Arabia recently, the police also said.
