The BJP not to concede more seats to JD (U) for 2019 Lok Sabha polls
New Delhi: Despite Bihar chief minister and Janata Dal (United) leader Nitish Kumar being the face of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the state, the Bharatiya Janata Party is not going to concede much to the demand of the JD (U) as far as seat sharing for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections is concerned. The BJP plans to give maximum a dozen of seats to the JD (U) in these Lok Sabha elections. However, the BJP national president Amit Shah is meeting with alliance partner to fathom the water.

Sources in the BJP said that how many seats the JD (S) could be given out of the total 40 Lok Sabha seats in the state is well obvious as the NDA already has the Lok Jan Shakti Party (LJSP) of Ram Vilas Paswan and the Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) of Upendra Kushwaha and both these parties have six and three seats in the Lok Sabha respectively. So the NDA already has 31 seats in its possession. Now, nine seats are left for the JD (U) to get without much of a hassle which wants at least 18 seats to contest on.
Sources in the BJP said that the party in no way is going to compromise on its sitting seats that is 22 seats in the present Lok Sabha from Bihar. So it will have to look for options other than the BJP that means allies will have to haggle it out for the Lok Sabha seats. However, in the Assembly elections Janata Dal (U) might take lead as far as seats were a concern but in the Lok Sabha polls, the BJP will lead.
Sources said that Lok Sabha elections are fought on the Centre's performance and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been the face of the NDA for the Lok Sabha elections. There is one more thing that needs to be added that last election JD (U) fought alone and got just two seats and one of them with a very thin margin. Before JD (U) was made, the same party with the name of Samata Party contested Bihar elections with the alliance of the left party and had won seven seats. But sources said that Nitish is eying at least 18 seats in Bihar.
