Thane Police Arrest Man for Assaulting Teen; Search for Accomplice On

A 60-year-old man has been detained by police for allegedly raping a minor girl multiple times in Bhiwandi, Thane district, an official reported on Thursday. Authorities are also searching for a 25-year-old woman who allegedly recorded the assaults and threatened the victim.

The incidents occurred in May and June, according to the official. The Shanti Nagar police station has charged the duo under relevant sections of the IPC and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) based on a complaint filed by the victim's aunt, who is a vegetable vendor.

Details of the Assaults

The girl's ordeal began in May when she visited the man's house to deliver vegetables. The woman accomplice, present at the time, reportedly dragged her into a room where the man raped her, as per the police complaint. The man was arrested on Wednesday.

Between June 2 and June 5, the elderly man forced the girl into an autorickshaw and took her to his female associate's house. There, he raped her again, according to police reports. The woman threatened to defame the girl by telling her family about an alleged affair with another man.

Threats and Video Evidence

The female associate also recorded videos of the sexual assaults on her mobile phone. She threatened to circulate these videos if the minor disclosed the crimes to anyone, said the police. The threats were intended to silence the victim and prevent her from seeking help.

The case has shocked the local community, highlighting issues of safety and justice for minors. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the woman's whereabouts to come forward.
