Temperature Today: Mercury Hits 48 Degrees, IMD Issues Red Alert For Heatwave In North India

Taking cognizance of the scorching heat and rapidly rising mercury, India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a 'red alert' for several parts of north India including Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and Western Uttar Pradesh. The weather monitoring department has predicted severe heatwave conditions over the next five days with maximum temperature nearing 48 degrees Celsius.

Sharing an advisory to stay indoor as much as possible to avoid severe heat, the department said severe heatwave conditions were observed in many parts of northwest India even at night. IMD added that even nights have become warm in some parts of Rajasthan.

Temperature Today Mercury Hits 48 Degrees IMD Issues Red Alert For Heatwave In North India

IMD recorded maximum temperature in Haryana's Sirsa on Tuesday around 47.8°C, followed by 47.4°C in Najafgarh, Delhi.

Weather Forecast For Delhi Today:

IMD has predicted that the sky will be clear today in Delhi on Wednesday along with Heatwave conditions. Strong warm winds speeding up to 20-30 km/h can also be experienced during the day, weather department added.
