Telangana row: Chiranjeevi resigns over bifurcation
He is reported to have come under immense pressure from the United Andhra supporters and is said to have been disturbed over the way the united Andhra protests in Seemandhra have been handled. The move was a reflection of his anguish over the entire situatio in Andhra Pradesh. Hailing from coastal Andhra, the actor-minister faxed his resignation to the Prime Minister.
The United Andhra supporters have sought the resignation of Chiranjeevi quite often to soften the protests for Telangana formation. Once a staunch supporter of the Telangana formation, the actor early on Thursday morning quit the Assembly, accepting "moral responsibility" for the change of situations.
"I am bowing to the wish of the people. The onus is on the Congress to explain the unilateral action taken.. Andhra has never seen a crisis like this," said Chiranjeevi pointing that he is not the only one who's changed his mind about Telangana. "Not just us, but the Telugu Desam, Congress and even Communist parties are having to change stances according to people's wishes."
A number of other ministers too have resigned from their posts, which include Pallam Raju, Ananth Reddy, and Suryaprakash Reddy belonging to various ministries.
