Telangana Have Decided That There Must Be Change, Says Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar

Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar on Sunday highlighted the resounding call for change voiced by the people of Telangana. He emphasized the necessity of progress and development, indicating a popular demand for transformation. Referring to Revanth Reddy as the PCC president and the team leader, Shivakumar conveyed that the party would collectively decide on the face of the CM.

Speaking to ANI, Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar said, "The people of Telangana have decided that there must be change, there must be change for progress, and development. He (Revanth Reddy) is the PCC president. He is the team leader. Our party will take the decision (on the CM's face). The election was fought on collective leadership. I do not want to comment on KCR or KTR, the people of Telangana have given them an answer..."

Despite the majority of exit polls favoring the Congress in Telangana and some surveys indicating a potential hung Assembly, Shivakumar addressed the issue of MLA poaching on Sunday. He affirmed that not a single MLA or candidate would defect, emphasizing a commitment to maintaining unity within the party.

The Congress party waged a vigorous election campaign with the goal of ousting the incumbent TRS party, which had been in power for nearly a decade. The BJP also launched a fierce attack on the ruling BRS government. The K Chandrasekhar Rao-led BRS has been in power since 2014, when Telangana was granted statehood, and it won the 2018 elections as well. The BRS is hoping to win a third consecutive term in office.
