Telangana govt sanctions Rs 100 Cr to clean Hussain Sagar
Hyderabad, March 10: The Telangana government has planned to clean the renowned Hussain Sagar Lake and rejuvenate it. A noble thought, that has driven the ecologists crazy. Although considered as a glorious project by the chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, activists believe that this has a political motive and that the procedure is unscientific.
KCR has decided to empty the lake in the coming summer season and clean it up. Following which, fresh water will be replaced into it. Activist Jasneen said,"Whole project has political consideration, not ecologically sound or in the welfare of people."

Despite protests, the government has sanctioned Rs 100 crore for this ambitious project. Environmentalists rue that it was risk emission of hazardous gases and disposal of chemical waste.
Meanwhile, the Telangana Irrigation minister Harish Rao said,"We are consulting, how can lake be cleaned. If we drain out water, how can things proceed." Having said that, earlier several governments had also tried to restore the glory of the lake, but their efforts went waste.
