Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy Requests Report on Metro Rail Connectivity from Airport to Future City
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has instructed officials to draft a detailed report on metro rail connectivity between Rajiv Gandhi International Airport and the proposed future city on Hyderabad's outskirts. He emphasised the need to commence metro rail expansion through Hyderabad's old city promptly.

Reddy, during a meeting focused on Musi Riverfront Development and Hyderabad metro, urged officials to address any obstacles in the metro rail expansion, including land acquisition issues. He mandated that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the metro expansion be ready before the Dussehra festival in October for submission to the Centre.
Metro Rail Expansion and Urban Development
The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of collecting data on impoverished individuals living in unauthorised areas around lakes, drains, and along the Musi river. This information is crucial for allocating double-bedroom houses to them, ensuring they are not left homeless. He stressed protecting lakes from encroachments by installing CCTV cameras linked to the police Command Control Centre.
Reddy also instructed that Full Tank Level and Buffer Zones of lakes and other water bodies within the Outer Ring Road (ORR) be identified. The state government has recently established the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRA) to oversee these efforts.
Future City Plans
Previously, Revanth Reddy announced plans for a fourth city, following Hyderabad, Secunderabad, and Cyberabad. This new city will be located at Mucharla on Hyderabad's outskirts. It will feature an AI and health tourism hub, sports facilities, and other developments on a large scale.
The Chief Minister's directives aim to enhance urban infrastructure while safeguarding vulnerable communities and natural resources. These initiatives reflect a comprehensive approach to urban planning and development in Telangana.
