Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy Invites K Chandrasekhar Rao for Debate on Irrigation Projects and Water Usage

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has proposed a debate with BRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao on irrigation projects and water usage of the Krishna and Godavari rivers. Reddy suggested this discussion take place in the Assembly, aiming to address water issues affecting Telangana.

Debate on Telangana Water Usage and Projects

Reddy expressed the government's willingness to consider suggestions from KCR for the state's benefit. He also mentioned seeking input from experts and stakeholders. "Let's discuss the decisions taken during the BRS regime and by our government," he stated.

Water Rights and Responsibilities

The Chief Minister accused KCR of compromising Telangana's water rights through decisions made during BRS rule. He argued that if the previous government had prioritised Hyderabad's drinking water, the situation would differ. Andhra Pradesh wouldn't have diverted Krishna water, he claimed.

Reddy further criticised the BRS government for not using Jurala water for the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation scheme. This oversight, he said, allowed Andhra Pradesh to divert Krishna water to Rayalaseema, impacting Telangana's hydel power generation.

Debate Proposal and Government's Intentions

Reddy assured that no one's dignity would be compromised during the proposed debate. "As the leader of the House, I promise it is my responsibility to ensure that no one's dignity is violated in the House during the debate," he affirmed.

If KCR cannot attend due to health reasons, Reddy offered an alternative. He suggested holding a mock assembly at KCR's farmhouse in Erravalli village with his cabinet colleagues. This demonstrates their commitment to discussing these critical issues.

The Chief Minister emphasised that the government's goal is to clarify facts for the public. They are prepared to advocate for Telangana's water rights vigorously. This stance highlights their dedication to addressing water-related challenges facing the state.
