Telangana bursts with energy as it turns 1

Hyderabad, June 2: The divided state of Telangana turns 1 today and so has the chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.

The chief minister started the day by unfurling the national flag at the Parade ground and paying tribute at the Martyrs Memorial at the Gun Park in Hyderabad.

Remembering the 50 years of struggle for a separate state, the people celebrate their victory over various hurdles post-division, which included law and order situation, controversies over the government's household survey and ban on a few television channels, the challenge of finding space for a new capital city, and lately, the spate of deaths in heat wave.

PM Modi too sent greetings to the people of Telangana on Twitter saying,"My best wishes to the people of Telangana on the occasion of their Statehood Day. My best wishes for the State's development journey."

3D illuminating maps have been placed in three different areas-the Clock Tower, Buddha Statue in Hussian Sagar, Kacheguda Railway station-of the capital city Hyderabad. Plans have been made to celebrate this important day across the 10 districts of the state.

Remembering the people who sacrificed their lives for the state, celebrations were also done at the Telangana Bhavan, the headquarters of the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
