The police also took into custody BJP workers who had gathered in a show of support for the state BJP president.

Reddy asserted that he had been "detained" for "voicing his protest against the unfulfilled promises of the BRS regarding employment opportunities for the youth."

"Detained by the KCR government - All because I protested against the unmet commitments regarding jobs and the youth," posted the Telangana BJP president on X.

In another X post, he characterized his arrest as the "downfall" of K. Chandrashekar Rao.

"Your downfall, KCR garu, is tied to our arrest... The struggle continues, advocating for the rights of the people of Telangana. The KCR government cannot disrupt the peaceful protests of the BJP, which aim to address the concerns of the unemployed youth under his governance," Reddy stated on X.

Reddy began a hunger strike, alleging "injustice against the unemployed youth under the KCR government."
