Tehelka case: Tejpal's bail plea to be heard tomorrow

Panaji: A Goa court might pronounce its order on the bail plea of Tehelka founder editor Tarun Tejpal in a sexual assault case tomorrow afternoon. The court has heard the arguments of the defence and the prosecution.

Tarun Tejpal is charged with sexually assaulting a woman journalist during Thinkfest, a Tehelka event, in Goa in 2013.

Tarun Tejpal has been lodged at a Goa jail for over a month.The Goa police are expected to file a chargesheet in the case in a few days. They are opposing his bail plea on the grounds that he could influence the case.

According to reports, the son of a leading playwright will arrive from Bangalore to depose before the Judicial Magistrate tomorrow. He was present during the Tehelka festival in Goa when alleged incident happened.

The Crime Branch has already contacted Hollywood star Robert De Niro through his attorney and sent a questionnaire seeking to corroborate certain statements made by the accused as well as the victim in the case.
