Team RRR celebrates Elephant Whisperers’ win at Oscars

The internet has gone wild after the Elephant Whisperers won at the Oscars. The movie is about a beautiful bond between an orphaned elephant and his caretakers.

It was a historic day for India at the Oscars today, with Naatu Naatu and Elephant Whisperers bagging top honours.

The Elephant Whisperers went on to win the Oscars in the 'Best Documentary Short Film' category at the 95th Academy Awards. The documentary is about an unbreakable bond between two abandoned elephants and their caretakers.

The documentary which is playing on Netflix went on to beat 'Haulout", ''How Do You Measure a Year?'', ''The Martha Mitchell Effect'' and ''Stranger at the Gate.'

The award for the Tamil documentary was collected by Kartiki Gonsalves and producers Guneet Monga.

The internet in India went on to overdrive mode soon after the win at the Oscars.

Team RRR which won the Oscars for the song, 'Naatu Naatu' also took to Twitter to congratulate the team of the Elephant Whisperers.

'Congratulations to the entire team of The Elephant Whisperers on winning an Oscar for the best documentary short,' RRR Movie said on Twitter.

''What fabulous news..India's 'The Elephant Whisperers' wins #Oscars award for the Best Documentary Short Film. A proud moment for Tamil Nadu Forest Department,'' bureaucrat Supriya Sahu wrote on Twitter.

''Truly a proud moment for India and Tamil Nadu This true love & the strong bond between the foster parents & the orphaned elephant calf gets one other coveted recognition to Tamil Nadu's conservation efforts and to the Mudumalai Elephant camp," Indian Forest Service officer, Sudha Ramen said.

    In her speech, Kartiki Gonsalves said, 'I stand here today to speak on the sacred bond between us and our natural world. For the respect of indigenous communities. For entity towards other living beings, we share our space with. And finally for co-existence. Thank you to the academy for recognizing our film highlighting indigenous people and animals."

    "To Netflix for believing in the power of this film. To Guneet my Producer and my entire team and finally, to my mother father and sister who are up there somewhere, you're the centre of my universe. To my motherland India," she also said.

    About Elephant Whisperers:

    The documentary is set in the Mudumalai National Park.It is the take of an orphaned elephant calf named Raghu who is in the care of Bomman and Belli, an indigenous couple. The documentary celebrates the bond which develops between them. The Elephant Whisperers was released on Netflix in December 2022.
