TDP clarification notice seeks response from Eluru MP Putta Mahesh Kumar over Hyderabad drug raid claims

The Telugu Desam Party has sought a written explanation from Eluru Lok Sabha member Putta Mahesh Kumar after allegations linked him to a Hyderabad farmhouse raid in Moinabad. Kumar has denied consuming drugs and said he attended a dinner. Police teams and the EAGLE Force detained 11 people, who reportedly tested positive.

The Telugu Desam Party has asked Eluru Lok Sabha MP Putta Mahesh Kumar to explain allegations of drug use at a Hyderabad farmhouse. The party said it viewed the claims as serious. Kumar rejected the accusation and said the visit involved only a dinner. The incident relates to a raid and detentions reported on March 14.

In a letter, TDP state president Palla Srinivasa Rao said the leadership had taken serious note of the allegations. The letter referred to the incident at a farmhouse in Moinabad on March 14. Rao said the party believed the recent developments had harmed its reputation. The notice asked for a written response and set a clear deadline.

TDP Putta Mahesh Kumar asked to respond within five days

According to the notice, the party directed Kumar to submit a written explanation within five days. It also asked Kumar to stay away from party activities until a report is received. The notice said the party leadership would decide further steps after reviewing the MP’s reply. No additional timeline for the report was mentioned.

Putta Mahesh Kumar denies allegations after Moinabad farmhouse raid

Reacting to the allegations, Kumar denied the allegations and offered an account of the visit. Kumar said he only attended a dinner after several people staying there for days requested a meeting. Kumar later posted a statement on X. Kumar also asked people to ignore media reports and social media posts.

"I did not do anything wrong during the dinner, and no mistake was committed on my part,\" Kumar said in a post on X. The MP further said he would never betray the trust placed in him by the people of Eluru district and assured that he would never engage in any wrongdoing. He also urged the public not to believe the reports circulating in the media and posts appearing on social media regarding the incident. Kumar added that he would always speak the truth and would never resort to falsehoods.

EAGLE Force raid in Moinabad linked to Putta Mahesh Kumar case

On March 14, Kumar and former Bharat Rashtra Samithi BRS MLA Rohith Reddy were among 11 persons detained. Authorities said the group was held after they allegedly tested positive for drug consumption. The detentions followed a late-night operation at a Moinabad farmhouse near Hyderabad. The farmhouse was reported to be owned by Reddy.

Officials said the Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement EAGLE Force acted on reliable information. Local police teams joined the EAGLE Force during the raid on Saturday night. The action focused on a suspected drug party at the farmhouse. The TDP’s notice to Kumar followed these reported developments and the allegations linked to them.
