Tamil-Telugu Actor Srikanth Arrested In Cocaine Case, Remanded To Judicial Custody

Tamil and Telugu film actor Srikanth has been remanded to judicial custody until July 7, 2025, after being arrested in a high-profile cocaine case that has sent shockwaves through Chennai's entertainment and political circles. His arrest forms part of an ongoing crackdown on a drug trafficking network, which also involves former AIADMK party members and several foreign nationals.

Chennai Police have presented extensive documentary and digital evidence linking Srikanth to cocaine procurement and consumption. Investigators have recovered chat records, transaction logs-including payments made via Google Pay-and phone data that allegedly show regular contact with drug dealers.

Police allege that Srikanth bought cocaine on nearly 40 occasions, spending approximately ₹4.72 lakh. The drugs were reportedly consumed at private gatherings and high-end clubs in Chennai.

Medical tests have further strengthened the case. Blood samples taken from Srikanth at a government hospital returned positive for narcotics, though the complete forensic report has yet to be released publicly.

During a raid at his residence, police also found one gram of cocaine along with several empty packets, adding physical evidence to the growing list of charges.

Srikanth's name emerged during the investigation of a separate incident-a bar brawl in Nungambakkam-which led to the arrest of several individuals. Their interrogation revealed ties to a broader drug supply chain. According to police, Srikanth procured drugs through T Prasad, a former AIADMK functionary, and is suspected of having connections to others in the Tamil film industry who may be involved in the same network.

Following extensive interrogation, Srikanth was arrested and presented before a magistrate, who ordered his judicial remand at Puzhal Central Prison. His legal counsel secured permission for him to be held in a first-class cell.

The case remains under active investigation. Authorities are now expanding their probe to examine Srikanth's relationships within the film industry and to identify additional individuals connected to the drug cartel. Further arrests and interrogations are anticipated in the coming days.

Srikanth is currently in judicial custody until July 7 as police build their case with substantial evidence, including financial records, phone data, medical tests, and narcotics seized from his home. The actor's alleged role in a larger drug network involving political figures and other film personalities continues to be investigated.
