Tamil Nadu: Woman strangles baby, commits suicide

Salem, Oct 2: Upset over not being able to properly nurse her sick one-month old boy, a 27-year-old woman allegedly strangled the baby and then committed suicide by jumping into a well in a nearby village, police said.

The woman could not breastfeed the baby properly as she could not produce enough milk and the infant was crying often.

She allegedly strangled the baby yesterday and hid the body in a bucket, police said, adding, she then jumped into a well at Kutathupatty village.

The infant's body was found by neighbours in the woman's house. The woman's body was later recovered. Her husband is a powerloom worker.
