The Supreme Court directed the Tamil Nadu government to start the counselling process for admissions for MBBS and BDS seats in the state based on the NEET merit list. The government has been given time till September 4 to complete the process.

The decision to speed up the announcement of the allotment results was taken after the Supreme Court on Tuesday directed the TN government to conduct medical counseling under NEET. The results once declared can be checked on the official website.

The Centre told the Supreme Court that no ordinance was coming on the issue.

After the Attorney General K.K. Venugopal told the court that the ordinance not got clearance, the Court directed that medical counselling should be completed by September 4.

The court said that the counseling should be conducted and completed by September 4. The Medical counseling will begin on Thursday. The court observed that NEET will be the only basis for admissions. Further the court said the counseling should be conducted immediately and the process should end by September 4.

The Directorate of Medical Education had received 50,558 applications from the aspirants of which 31,323 were seeking admissions to 2,594 seats. The merit list once out can be checked at tnhealth.org and tnmedicalselection.org.
