PM Modi sought their blessings and also honoured them. The prime minister will on Sunday inaugurate the new Parliament building, equipped with state-of-the-art technology, amid a boycott by several Opposition parties which insist that President Draupadi Murmu as head of the State should do the honours.

On Friday, Modi said the new Parliament building will make every Indian proud and shared a video of the new complex.

According to ANI, on August 14, 1947, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru received the Sengol, which symbolised the Britishers' relinquishment of power.

Prime Minister Modi made a historic decision to adopt the Sengol as a national symbol of the Amrit Kaal. Ambalavana Desiga Paramachariya Swamigal of Thiruvavaduthurai Aadheenam expressed pride on behalf of Tamil Nadu, as the installation of the Sengol in the Parliament building highlighted its significance.
