Public Threats to Tamil Nadu Governor Ignored by State Police, Alleges Raj Bhavan
The Raj Bhavan accuses the state police of neglecting public threats against Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi, resulting in compromised security. Recent bomb attacks at the Raj Bhavan are believed to be linked to this issue.
Recent incidents in Tamil Nadu have raised serious concerns about the safety and security of the state's Governor, RN Ravi. The Raj Bhavan, where he resides, has reported multiple threats to his life from the public. Adding to this alarming situation is a seeming indifference by the state police force, which the Raj Bhavan alleges has compromised Governor Ravi's security.

The latest incident occurred on October 25 when an individual hurled a Molotov cocktail at the Raj Bhavan. In addition to physical attacks like these, there have also been numerous verbal threats directed towards Governor Ravi. These intimidations are reportedly coming predominantly from leaders and workers of DMK (Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) and its allies during their public meetings or via their social media platforms.
Inaction by Police
A formal complaint regarding these events was lodged with the Chennai Police Commissioner by Governor's office. Despite this step being taken, it appears that no significant action has been taken against those responsible for these actions so far. This lack of response from law enforcement agencies is causing considerable concern among officials at Raj Bhavan who believe that such negligence is emboldening those threatening Governor Ravi.
Past Incidents Ignored
RN Ravi had previously encountered physical violence while en route to attend a function at Dharmapuram Adhinam in Mayiladuthurai district where he was attacked with sticks and stones. Although a complaint was filed regarding this incident, no First Information Report (FIR) was registered by authorities - a pattern seen in several other similar instances involving threats against him.
Demand for Serious Action
The statement released by Raj Bhavan further emphasized that it's untenable for a governor to work under constant threats. It urged the top city police official to take serious cognizance of these attacks, which constitute offences including those under section 124 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), specifically intended for threats to a Governor. A copy of this complaint was also sent to the state police chief by Governor's Deputy Secretary Dr T Sengottaiyan.
Meanwhile, in relation to the Molotov cocktail incident at Raj Bhavan's main gate, a man has since been arrested. Thankfully, there were no casualties or damage reported from this attack.
In conclusion, these recurring incidents have raised grave concerns about the safety of Tamil Nadu's Governor RN Ravi and call into question the effectiveness of his security arrangements. The alleged indifference shown by law enforcement agencies towards these matters is particularly concerning and needs immediate attention. It remains imperative that swift action be taken against those responsible for such acts to ensure not only the safety of Governor Ravi but also uphold respect for constitutional positions.
