Tamil Nadu: 22-year-old murders husband for 'not being handsome enough'

Unhappy that her husband was not handsome, a newly married woman smashed his head with a grinding stone killing him. The 22-year-old, the police said, murdered her husband and later attempted to shift the blame by claiming innocence. Barely married for a week, the wife is said to have smashed the man's head with a household grinding stone after a quarrel on Monday night in Cuddalore of Tamil Nadu

The local police claimed that the woman was being taunted by her relatives and friends about her husband not being handsome. Police alleged that the woman was told that her husband, a wood sculptor by profession was not the right match for her. After murdering him, the 22-year-old is said to have run out of the house crying about someone killing her husband.

The police who visited the spot grew suspicious. After questioning the woman, the police proceeded to arrest her. She was produced before the local court that remanded her to judicial custody.
