Tamil actor Vikram injured during rehearsals; 'Thangalaan' shooting to be delayed

Tamil actor Vikram, who is basking in the success of his latest movie 'Ponniyin Selvan', has reportedly suffered an injury during rehearsals and broken his rib.

As a result, he will not be able to join the shooting of his forthcoming movie 'Thangalaan'. He is reportedly out of action for a month following the injury.

The news has been confirmed by the actor's manager on Twitter. "Thank you for all the love and appreciation #AdithaKarikalan aka #ChiyaanVikram has received and for the astounding response to #PS2 from all over the world. #Chiyaan sustained an injury during rehearsals resulting in a broken rib due to which he will not be able to join his #Thangalaan unit for a short while. He thanks everyone for your love and promises to be back on his feet and rocking at the earliest," Yuvraaj tweeted.

'Thangalaan' is said to be based on true events revolving around mine workers in Kolar Gold Fields in Karnataka. Pa Ranjith is directing the movie which has Malavika Mohanan as the female lead.

On the other hand, 'Ponniyin Selvan' is off to a good start at the box office. The movie, directed by ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam, was released last weekend to fairly positive reviews.

Notably, it has done excellent business at the US box office where it has minted over $3.5 million. Lyca Productions tweeted, "Over 3.5 million $ grossed in the first weekend! Thank you for the love! #PS2 makes its mark at number 8 at the US weekend box office!"

The epic historical action-adventure film also has Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Trisha, Jayam Ravi among others in the cast. It has the music of AR Rahman while Ravi Varman has handled the cinematography department.

The first part of the movie was released last year and minted over Rs 500 crore at the box office.
