Tamil actor's headless body found in garbage bin identified; husband and his lover held

New Delhi, Feb 8: A headless body was found in a garbage bin in Chennai nearly a month ago which has now been identified. According to Chennai Police, the headless body is of Tamil actress Sasirekha, who played the lead role in Tamil film.

The murder mystery was solved by the police with the arrest of actress's husband and his alleged girlfriend.

According to a TOI report, "Police on Friday arrested her husband Ramesh Sankar, 36, who has directed a few short films, and his girlfriend Lawkiiyaa Kashiiv, 32, the heroine in an under-production film, 'Karuppasamypuram', and charged them with murder.

The pair were in a live-in relationship and stayed in Madhanandhapuram near Kundrathur, on the western outskirts of Chennai, where investigators arrested them.
Police had recovered the torso of Sasirekha from the garbage bin on January 5."

During interrogation, Sasirekha's husband and his girlfriend admitted to the murder. According to the daily's report, they told police that they killed Sasirekha because she did not allow Ramesh to meet Lawkiiyaa (his girlfriend).

Ramesh allegedly killed his wife by smashing her head with an iron rod and later decapitated the body with a knife so that identifying the body becomes difficult.
