Syria: Girl stoned to death for opening FB account

, Feb 18: The civil unrest in Syria was as if not enough to get readers worried that news of a Syrian teenager being stoned to death for opening an FB account started going viral.

Fatoum Al-Jassem, the victim, was sentenced to death by stoning by the Al-Reqqa religious court in Rakka after she was dragged to the court by the ISIL militants. Her only crime was she 'indulged' herself in Facebook and had opened an account with it.

Shockingly, her 'crime' was paralleled to adultery and was sentenced to death. The court also described her Facebook account as an "act of great wickedness" which called for severe punishment.
