Swiggy UPI Launched: Check Step-By-Step Process How To Set Up And Use It In Just One Step
Swiggy has launched a UPI payment feature, integrating NPCI's UPI Plug-in with Juspay's HyperUPI Plugin. This move simplifies transactions from five steps to one, cutting the time from 15 seconds to five, aiming to enhance customer experience.
Swiggy has introduced Swiggy UPI, integrating the National Payments Corporation of India's (NPCI) UPI Plug-in solution for quicker in-app payments.
The new feature, powered by Juspay's HyperUPI Plugin, allows users to complete transactions within the app, reducing the process from five steps to just one and cutting transaction time from over 15 seconds to just five seconds.

"We are excited to introduce our UPI experience to our customers. This feature aligns with Swiggy's mission to enable unparalleled convenience to consumers as UPI emerges as one of the most preferred payment methods," said Anurag Panganamamula, Head of Revenue and Growth at Swiggy. "By massively simplifying the transaction process and reducing payment failures, we are confident this feature will significantly enhance the consumer experience on Swiggy."
How to Set Up Swiggy UPI
Customers can set up Swiggy UPI by linking their bank accounts through the app's payment page. After selecting Swiggy UPI, they need only enter their UPI PIN for all future transactions. Users will be immediately notified of any issues such as insufficient funds, incorrect credentials, or technical problems.
In April 2024, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman noted that India recorded around 131 billion UPI transactions. The NPCI is encouraging more entities to integrate UPI services. Swiggy collaborates with nearly 2 lakh restaurants across over 600 cities and operates its quick commerce platform Instamart in more than 25 cities.
Why Did Swiggy Launch Swiggy UPI?
The launch of Swiggy UPI aims to streamline the payment process for users. By integrating Juspay's HyperUPI Plugin, Swiggy ensures that users can complete transactions without leaving the app. This integration reduces transaction time significantly and simplifies the payment process.
The delivery giant claims that this new feature will enhance user convenience by reducing payment failures and making transactions faster. This move is part of a broader trend encouraged by NPCI to integrate UPI services across various platforms.
Swiggy's collaboration with numerous restaurants and its extensive reach in multiple cities make it a significant player in India's food delivery market. The introduction of Swiggy UPI is expected to further solidify its position by offering a seamless payment experience.
The integration of NPCI's UPI Plug-in solution into Swiggy's app represents a significant step towards enhancing user experience. With this new feature, users can enjoy faster and more reliable transactions, aligning with the growing preference for digital payments in India.
This development comes at a time when digital payments are becoming increasingly popular in India. The ease and speed offered by solutions like Swiggy UPI are likely to drive further adoption among consumers.
Swiggy's initiative reflects a broader trend in the industry towards integrating advanced payment solutions to improve customer satisfaction. As digital payments continue to grow, features like Swiggy UPI will play a crucial role in shaping the future of online transactions in India.
