Swati Maliwal Assault: Kejriwal's Aide Bibhav Kumar Remanded To 3-Day Custody

The Delhi Tis Hazari Court has remanded Bibhav Kumar to three days police custody. Kumar is involved in the Swati Maliwal alleged assault case. The Delhi Police had initially sought five days' custody for Kumar, but his counsel argued against it, claiming a lack of evidence.

This decision follows a recent development where a Delhi court denied Kumar's bail plea, stating that there seemed to be no premeditation on Maliwal's part in filing the FIR. The court emphasized that the allegations against Kumar should be taken at face value and cannot be dismissed easily.

The case dates back to May 13 when Maliwal alleged that Kumar physically assaulted her at Kejriwal's residence. The FIR, registered on May 16, accuses Kumar of several offenses including criminal intimidation and assault on a woman with intent to disrobe.

Kumar was arrested on May 18 and initially remanded to five days of police custody, which was followed by four days of judicial custody. His counsel has argued that the charges against him are concocted and that the delay in registering the FIR undermines the case.

The court's decision to grant three days' police custody will likely lead to further investigation into the allegations against Bibhav Kumar.
