AAP Dismisses Maliwal's Assault Allegations, Questions Her Character

In a recent turn of events, AAP MP Swati Maliwal has openly criticized her party, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), for retracting its acknowledgment of her assault allegations against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's aide, Bibhav Kumar. Maliwal expressed her dismay, stating that the party has succumbed to the pressure of "a goon" and is now casting aspersions on her character. This development follows a statement by AAP leader Atishi, who labeled the assault case as a BJP conspiracy aimed at implicating Kejriwal, with Maliwal being portrayed as a central figure in this alleged plot.

AAP Questions Maliwals Claims

Atishi, during a press conference, dismissed Maliwal's accusations against Kumar as unfounded, marking a stark departure from the party's initial stance. Just two days prior, AAP had conceded that Kumar had indeed acted inappropriately towards Maliwal. The shift in narrative has led to Maliwal voicing her frustrations on social media platform X. She highlighted the irony of being deemed a BJP agent by members who had only recently joined AAP, despite her two-decade-long association with the party.

Maliwal's contention stems from an incident reported on May 13, where she alleges to have been assaulted by Kumar at the Chief Minister's official residence. In response to these allegations, the Delhi Police has filed an FIR against Kumar. Furthermore, Maliwal claims that there are attempts to tamper with CCTV footage at the Chief Minister's residence, urging Delhi Police to take note of these actions.

The situation escalated when Maliwal accused Kumar of threatening the party with revelations of undisclosed secrets if he were to be arrested. According to Maliwal, this intimidation tactic has led to AAP defending Kumar and maligning her reputation in the process. Despite these challenges, Maliwal remains resolute in her fight for justice, not just for herself but for women across the country.

This incident has sparked a significant controversy, highlighting internal conflicts within AAP and raising questions about the handling of assault allegations within political parties. As the situation unfolds, all eyes are on AAP and its next course of action regarding the allegations made by Maliwal and the counter-allegations by Kumar.
