New Delhi, June 24: BJP leader Subramanian Swamy on Thursday turned his guns on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, and sought from IIT-Kharagpur (IIT-Kgp) the details of his admission in the premier institute.

Kejriwal graduated from IIT-Kgp in the 1980s with a B. Tech (Hons) degree.

In his press statement, Swamy attached an RTI reply received from IIT-Kgp to his query asking the institute to provide the basis of Kejriwal's entry into B-Tech programme and his All India rank, among other things.

While the institute provided details such as Kejriwal's roll number and the years of his stay at IIT-Kgp (1985-1989), it did not provide the information on Kejriwal's All India rank in IIT-JEE, saying it was not available.

The institute also refused to provide a copy of his grade sheet as it is exempted from disclosure under the RTI.

This is not for the first time that a question has been raised about Kejriwal's degree. Last month too, a social media platform was rife with gossip that Kejriwal had gained entry into the IIT through the back door.

However, the institute had rubbished such "rumours" saying the Delhi Chief Minister had indeed cracked the IIT-JEE exam.

Rajender Singh, dean of undergraduate studies and admissions at IIT Kgp, was quoted as saying by the media that Kejriwal had "cracked IIT-JEE like all other candidates of his year".
