Suspension of some Twitter accounts sparks controversy

Accounts of prominent Twitter personalities like Faking News editor Rahul Roushan and Rupa Subramanya were affected, said a Firstpost report.
According to the report, the story came to light after Subramanya said her account was suspended without any reason being cited and Twitter told her she might have shared an update that was a spam, leading to the suspension of her account. She also said that the Twitter asked her to change her behaviour or she would be permanently suspended from the micro-blogging site.
Subramanya alleged that it was mainly right-wing accounts that were suspended by Twitter, said the report. It also said that when she reached out to Twitter's India Head of News, Politics & Govt Raheel Khursheed seeking an explanation, the latter said he had no idea on what was the issue and assured to look into it.
Journalist Shiv Aroor later said it was just a technical bug.
Twitter India later apologised for the suspension of the accounts, saying it was an accidental act.
