Terrorists Ambush Army Convoy In J&K's Kathua District, 4 Soldiers Killed, 6 Injured

Four army personnel were killed and six injured when terrorists attacked an Indian Army convoy in the Machedi area of Kathua district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Monday.

The attack occurred in the Badnota village of Lohai Malhar, approximately 150 kilometers from Kathua town, within the operational area of the 9 Corps of the Indian Army. According to defense officials, troops retaliated after the terrorists opened fire.

Reinforcements have been deployed to the area, and further details are awaited, the officials added.

This incident adds to the growing list of terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir over the past few weeks.

In the Doda district, twin terror attacks on June 11 and 12 resulted in multiple injuries. On June 11, six security personnel were injured in an attack on a joint check post at Chattargalla. The following day, a police officer was injured during a gunfight with terrorists at Kota Top in the Gandoh area.

In response to these attacks, security forces ramped up their anti-terrorist operations and announced a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh each for four Pakistani terrorists believed to be operating in the district.

The intensified efforts yielded results on June 26, when three terrorists were killed during an encounter with security forces in a forested area of Doda district. This successful operation followed the coordinated efforts of the police, Army, and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to neutralise the threat posed by the terrorists involved in the earlier attacks.
