Suspected Terrorist Arrested in Faridabad; Investigation into Sleeper Cell Links Ongoing

Authorities are investigating the potential involvement of sleeper cells after the arrest of a 19-year-old suspected terrorist. Abdul Rehman, from Milkipur in Uttar Pradesh's Faizabad district, was detained on Sunday near Faridabad by a joint team from the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad and Haryana Police's Special Task Force. He was reportedly en route to Ayodhya at the time of his arrest.

Rehman was brought before a city court, which ordered a 10-day police remand. During questioning, he disclosed that two hand grenades were hidden in an abandoned house near Pali village. An official from the Special Task Force, speaking anonymously, indicated that Rehman might have connections with Pakistan's intelligence agency, ISI.

Investigation into Possible Sleeper Cell Involvement

The Haryana Special Task Force is examining whether a sleeper cell supported Rehman by supplying him with hand grenades. The team is working to identify any local contacts or logistical support linked to the suspect. Sources suggest that Rehman was supposed to travel to Ayodhya on March 4.

Two mobile phones were seized from Rehman, containing incriminating videos. He allegedly shared several videos with a terror group. However, his parents deny any involvement in terrorist activities. An official noted that it is too early to draw conclusions as the investigation is ongoing.

Details of Arrest and Interrogation

Rehman traveled from Faizabad to Faridabad by train on Sunday. A handler reportedly provided him with two hand grenades, and he planned to continue to Ayodhya by train with the explosives. However, he was apprehended before he could proceed further.

An FIR has been registered against Rehman at Dabua police station in Faridabad. During interrogation, he claimed ignorance about the identity or address of the person who supplied the grenades. The investigation remains sensitive and ongoing, according to officials.

Rehman had a health issue during childhood and received treatment in Ahmedabad several years ago. This detail emerged during the investigation but its relevance to current events remains unclear.

The authorities are continuing their probe into Rehman's activities and connections. They aim to uncover any further links to terrorist networks or sleeper cells that may have facilitated his actions.
