Surya Grahan 2025: First Solar Eclipse of the Year Coming Soon, Find Out If It’s Visible in India
The first solar eclipse of 2025 will occur on March 29, 2025. It will be a partial solar eclipse, where the Moon will cover a portion of the Sun.
According to astrology, a solar eclipse is a significant celestial event and is considered a symbol of negative energy. It is believed that the eclipse affects individuals of different zodiac signs. A solar eclipse always occurs on a new moon day (Amavasya Tithi), and it is advised to follow special guidelines during this period.

When Will the Eclipse Begin?
The first solar eclipse of 2025 will take place on March 29. It will begin at 2:21 PM and end at 6:14 PM. This eclipse will occur in the Pisces zodiac sign (Meen Rashi) and Uttara Bhadrapada Nakshatra. On this day, the Sun, Rahu, Venus, Mercury, and the Moon will all be present in Pisces.
What is a Solar Eclipse?
A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon comes between the Earth and the Sun, casting a shadow on our planet. This alignment happens only during the new moon phase, making it a fascinating event for sky-watchers.
First Solar Eclipse, Know Visibility
However, this eclipse will not be visible in India, and therefore, its Sutak period (the inauspicious period before the eclipse) will not be considered valid.
The second solar eclipse of 2025 is set to occur on September 21 (UTC) as a partial solar eclipse, visible across Australia, Antarctica, the Pacific Ocean, and the Atlantic Ocean.
In 2025, four major celestial events are set to take place-two solar eclipses (Surya Grahan) and two lunar eclipses (Chandra Grahan). The first solar eclipse of the year, a deep partial eclipse, is scheduled for March 29, 2025.
