BJP, AAP have new competitor on block! Now Godman Asaram Bapu's party to contest Delhi assembly poll

New Delhi, Nov 6: In a surprising move the followers of self-styled godman Asaram Bapu who is lodged in jail on charges of sexual assault have announced that their party will fight coming Delhi assembly election.

The Ojaswi Party, which has started by Asaram's son Narayan Sai recently decided to enter electoral fray. Narayan Sai is also in jail in various rape charges.

When asked about the decision, the party's national president Swami Omji has confirmed about it.

Brimming with confidence that their party will perform well in the assembly election, Omji said, "Our party will field candidates in all the 70 seats in Delhi. Even if we fail to obtain majority, we would be in such a significant number that without our support, no government would be possible in Delhi."

Report says that party top leaders recently met with Asaram Bapu in jail and discussed with him the whole planning. After he gave his nod, the followers have announced the decision.

At present Asaram Bapu is in jail in connection with a rape case filed by a 16-year-old girl. Last month, the supreme Court had rejected his bail plea. While rejecting Asaram's bail plea, TS Thakur, the judge of the apex court asserted that the ground cited by Asaram was not of such urgency to grant him bail.

72-year-old Asaram Bapu was arrested and was lodged in Jodhpur jail after a 16-year-old girl lodged a police complaint on Aug 20, 2013 accusing him of sexually assaulting her at his ashram in Jodhpur. Asaram Bapu was accused of raping the girl inside his ashram near Jodhpur.
