Bareilly Police Conducts Night-Time Operation, Arrests 271 History-Sheeters Across Four Districts

A surprise operation targeting known offenders took place across Bareilly's four districts, resulting in the verification of 4,701 individuals and the arrest of 271 people, according to Inspector General Rakesh Singh. This large-scale initiative is unprecedented in the region, Singh noted on Thursday evening. The Bareilly police range covers Budaun, Pilibhit, and Shahjahanpur districts.

During the operation in Bareilly district, authorities checked 1,967 individuals with criminal records. Of these, 88 were detained while 1,601 were found to be living peacefully. In Budaun, 1,088 such individuals were verified; 72 were detained, and 982 were reported as maintaining peaceful conduct.

History-Sheeter Verification in Pilibhit and Shahjahanpur

In Pilibhit, police checked 711 individuals with past criminal records. They arrested 35 people, confirmed that 605 were living peacefully, issued one expulsion order, and noted that 20 had died. Similarly, in Shahjahanpur, authorities verified 935 history-sheeters. They jailed 76 people, reported 716 as living peacefully, issued nine expulsion orders, and found that 22 had passed away.

The operation revealed that across the Bareilly range's districts, a total of 110 history-sheeters had died. Consequently, their records will be closed. This campaign is a crucial step towards enhancing police oversight over criminal elements and maintaining peace in the area.

Inspector General Singh emphasised the importance of this initiative in strengthening law enforcement's grip on crime and ensuring public safety. "This campaign is an essential step in tightening police control over criminal elements and ensuring peace and order in the region," he stated.
