Surat Building Collapse: 7 Confirmed Dead, Many Still Feared Trapped As Rescue Ops Underway
The collapse of a multi-storey building in the Sachin area of Surat, Gujarat, has led to a tragic situation with seven confirmed dead and many still feared trapped.
The building, constructed between 2016 and 2017, collapsed around 3 PM on Saturday amid heavy rainfall in the area.

Rescue operations involving the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and the fire department are ongoing.
Here's what we know so far:
1. As of Sunday, seven bodies have been recovered.
2. A woman was rescued shortly after the collapse.
3. Voices of trapped individuals were heard early in the rescue efforts.
4. The building housed about 30 flats, with only four to five occupied at the time.
5. The collapse happened during heavy rainfall, which may have contributed to the incident.
This incident follows a similar event earlier this year in Gujarat, where a section of an under-construction medical college building in Morbi town collapsed in March, injuring four workers.
