Supreme Court's NEET-UG 2024 Verdict: A Triumph Of Truth, Says Education Minister

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan welcomed the Supreme Court's decision to reject the cancellation and re-test of NEET-UG 2024, calling it a 'victory of truth'. He urged the opposition to apologise to students for their actions.

Pradhan stated, "After this historic judgement of the Supreme Court, I would like to say 'Satyamev Jayate.' The Opposition's role became clear after today's judgement."

The Supreme Court bench led by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud dismissed the plea for cancellation and re-examination. The court noted, "At the present stage, there is an absence of material on record to lead to the conclusion that the result of the examination is vitiated or that there is a systemic breach of the sanctity of the exam."

Pradhan criticised Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of misleading students and creating confusion. He said, "Criticising this, Rahul Gandhi has criticised India. Misleading the students of the country, creating confusion and provoking them for social tensions were all planned part of his politics." He added that rejecting electoral results and causing unrest are part of Gandhi's strategy.

On Monday, a heated exchange occurred between Pradhan and Gandhi over NEET. Gandhi accused Pradhan of blaming everyone but himself. He remarked, "I don't even think he understands the fundamentals of what is going on here...the issue is that millions of students in this country are extremely concerned about what is going on and who is convinced that the Indian examination system is a fraud."

Political Reactions and Accusations

Pradhan appealed to opposition leaders involved in these actions to apologise to students, youth, and parents. He said, "You have hurt the country, attempted to create anarchy in the country, conspired to have civil unrest in the country. The country will not forgive you. Political rivalry can be different, but students belong to everyone."

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will announce the final results for NEET-UG within two days. The merit list will be revised according to Supreme Court observations.
