Supari of Rs 11 lakh given to target film director Mahesh Bhatt and family: Mumbai Police
Mumbai, Nov 18: The Mumbai Police have arrested a gang who was instructed to kill noted filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and his family members. In a press conference on Monday, the crime branch police revealed this shocking plan of gangster Ravi Pujari. While talking about the motive, the cop said that Pujari wanted to assert as Hindu don. At the same time, he wanted to instill fear among film fraternity so that he could make money easily.
This arrested gang of seven members was also behind the firing at the house of film producer Karim Morani in August, said Mumbai Police. They said that all gang members were arrested on November 14 by ACP Sunil Deshmukh and Police Inspector Jagdish Sahil of the Motor Vehicle Theft department from Khar area.

On asking about the planning of the gang, Sadanand Date who is Joint Commissioner of Police said, "Our police officers had information that the seven were carrying weapons and were about to kill a famous Bollywood personality to establish themselves in the industry so they could extort money later".
Report says that one of the member of the gang even tried to get a watcman's job in Bhatt's office in Khar but remained unsuccessful. Another crime branch officer said, as quoted by the Mumbai Mirror, "They saw that there were always policemen around the producer, however, making their work difficult. So they thought of getting a job in the same building, but that did not happen, they decided to go ahead with the job. They were told to kill with a clean shot".
The police who recovered four pistols from gang, said that most of them were new recruits having no criminal records.
