Sunanda Pushkar case: Swamy seeks clarifications on irregularities by first probe team
Senior BJP leader Subramanian Swamy filed a petition before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Samar Vishal, seeking summoning of Delhi Police Vigilance Report on irregularities by the first probe team in Sunanda Pushkar Death case. The matter has been posted for 5 June.
Last week, a Delhi court has transferred the Sunanda Pushkar death case, in which her husband and Congress leader Shashi Tharoor has been chargesheeted for abetting her suicide, to a special court designated to try lawmakers.
The court reserved its order on taking cognisance of the charge sheet filed against Tharoor in connection with his wife Sunanda death case, for June 5. During the course of the hearing, the prosecution quoted from the charge sheet and explained why the case was of "abetment to suicide and cruelty".
The Delhi Police had on May 14 accused Tharoor, the Lok Sabha MP representing Thiruvananthapuram, of abetting Pushkar's suicide and told a city court that he should be summoned as an accused in the four-and-half year-old case, claiming there was sufficient evidence against him.
In a nearly 3,000-page charge sheet, the police named Tharoor as the only accused while also alleging that he had subjected his wife to cruelty.
