New Delhi, Jan 7: Shashi Tharoor was in deep shock yesterday when he came to know that Sunanda may have been murdered. While demanding a speedy probe into this and extending his co-operation in the investigations, Tharoor wondered how the police changed its stance so quickly. Raising questions over the investigations, Tharoor seemed extremely agitated and disturbed about the latest twist.
Sources say that he had told his friends that he wishes to know why there was such a sudden change in the stance of Delhi Police. It is said that Tharoor is undergoing treatment for spondylitis at an ayurvedic clinic in Kerala and is likely to be discharged on Friday. Meanwhile, the Delhi Police may send a special team to Kerala to interrogate Tharoor.
Delhi Police has suspected the use of Polonium 210 poison, which is rare and deadly. It is believed that it is artificially made in a nuclear reactor. Experts believe that even a miniscule amount of silver powder is enough to kill. Once it enters the bloodstream, its deadly effects are almost impossible to stop as the victim experiences multiple organ failure.
The Police is yet to justify why it called the case homicidal in nature. However, it has said that it is yet to probe whether the poison has been administered orally or injected. The FIR also plays an important role here as the viscera report has to be spent abroad for further investigation.
Meanwhile, there is no dearth of support for Tharoor from his party, which says that law will take its own course. Sources also reveal that the Congress leader will not be pressurised to leave the party under these circumstances.
