Sukhvinder Sukhu Criticised by Jai Ram Thakur for Unfulfilled Election Promises and New Guarantees

The Leader of the Opposition in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly, Jai Ram Thakur, has criticised the ruling Congress party for allegedly making unfulfilled promises. Thakur accused Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu of continuing to make new pledges despite not delivering on previous electoral commitments. He stated that the practice of giving false assurances during elections is unsustainable.

Jai Ram Thakur Critiques Sukhus Promises

Thakur highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also accused the Congress of making empty promises. According to Thakur, the Congress had pledged to provide 1 lakh jobs annually to the youth, yet no jobs have been created in two years. He further claimed that promises such as providing 300 units of free electricity and purchasing buffalo and cow milk at Rs 100 and Rs 80 per litre, respectively, have not been fulfilled.

Unfulfilled Promises and Financial Concerns

Thakur also mentioned that the Congress had promised Rs 1,500 monthly to all women aged 18-59, which remains unaddressed. He asserted that although Sukhu claims five promises have been implemented, the BJP will ensure that all unfulfilled commitments are exposed. Thakur emphasised that the BJP will hold the Congress accountable for its electoral promises.

The BJP leader criticised the current government for accumulating loans totalling Rs 25,000 crore over 22 months. He argued that Sukhu's claims of a "change of system" have instead resulted in a "downfall of system." Thakur expressed concern over the financial management under the Congress administration.

In his statement, Thakur reiterated that making false promises during elections is unethical. He warned that such practices would not endure and stressed the importance of accountability in governance. The BJP aims to highlight these issues and ensure transparency in fulfilling electoral commitments.

The ongoing political discourse in Himachal Pradesh reflects broader concerns about electoral accountability and governance. As both parties continue to engage in public debates, citizens remain attentive to how these issues will unfold in future elections.
