Sudden Dust Storm And Rain Bring Relief To Delhi-NCR Amid Ongoing Heatwave

A dust storm and moderate rainfall swept through Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) on Thursday, providing a brief reprieve from the region's ongoing heatwave. Conditions changed because a weather disturbance over northwest India was predicted by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). When the dusty winds and rain suddenly arrived in the afternoon, the capital had already been struggling with extreme heat.

More rain and thunderstorms are predicted by the IMD for Friday, April 11. The most recent forecast indicates that Delhi will see a maximum temperature of about 39 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of about 26 degrees Celsius. According to the weather service, a Western Disturbance is causing the current conditions and is probably going to keep affecting the weather in the area.

Sudden Dust Storm and Rain Bring Relief to Delhi-NCR Amid Ongoing Heatwave

In a bulletin, the IMD stated that "due to the influence of Western Disturbance, rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty/squally winds are likely over Northwest India during the 10th-11th of April." The agency also stated that because of this change, the region's current heatwave conditions should considerably lessen starting on Thursday, April 10.

Although many were unprepared for the unexpected downpour and dust storm, it also provided momentary respite from the intense heat that had engulfed the city. Before the rains started, strong winds swept through several localities, and the dust storm momentarily reduced visibility in some areas of Delhi.

Although the rainfall caused a brief drop in temperature, the IMD is still keeping a close eye on the system and encourages locals to stay updated by following official weather reports. As the Western Disturbance continues to impact the northwest, a combination of cooler winds, cloud cover, and light rainfall is anticipated over the next few days.
