Students demand independent Home Minister in Itanagar

The ANSU is demanding immediate arrest of the culprits involved in murder of Bomjen Gapak, an engineering student at Legi Complex on May 27 last, besides the appointment of an independent Home Minister, installations of CCTV cameras at all key places and additional police stations in the twin capital cities of Naharlagun and Itanagar.
Chief Minister Nabam Tuki during a recent meeting assured the ANSU leaders to fulfill all their demands within two months but since then three months have gone and no decision has been taken so far, the student body claimed.
They alleged that crime was on the rise which was the reason for their demand for an independent home minister, a portfolio which is currently held by the Chief Minister.
